Disagreements over the time of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Betway Cup caused the match between defending champions Bandari and Sofapaka not to be played in Mombasa.
During the pre-match meeting held at 10am, Bandari team manager insisted that as the home team it was at their discretion to choose the kick off time demanding that the match be played at 2pm.
The 2009 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka team manager Hilary Echesa said they will go according to the time which had been scheduled by the federation which was 4pm.
Later Sofapaka, went to the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Sports Club, the venue of the match but found the gates locked.
Echesa lamented on Bandari’s unsportsmanlike behavior and hoped they will get justice from the federation.
FKF secretary general Barry Otieno said the fate of Betway Cup matches that were not played will be decided by the federation’s league and competions committee basing on match reports.
