City Lawyer Steve Ogolla Conned KES 500,000 by Facebook Lover

Lawyer Steve Ogolla

A vocal city lawyer is counting massive losses after a woman he met on Facebook allegedly fleeced him of KSh 500,000. Steve Ogolla narrated how he was in a fake online relationship with a woman only identified as Dorcas Sarkozy.

In a disturbing Facebook confession, the lawyer alleged he even went to an extent of planning a wedding with a woman he had never seen. He claimed he sent his baby love money to cater for their wedding expenses but noticed later he had made a terrible decision.

At first, the high flying lawyer tried to report the issue but after being frustrated and having his intimate chats leaked, he gave up the fight.

“All I know is I was in a fake relationship with this lady and she conned me in excess of KSh 500K,” Steve lamented. The pressure of the whole confusion brought Steve to his knees and he even contemplated suicide.

“I reported the issue to authorities but she came back and blackmailed me by sharing private love Whatsapp chats with her third part parties,” the netizen wrote.

The hopeless romantic hoped fellow social media users would help expose the woman and bring her to justice. Most people failed to understand how someone so learned ended up being duped in the most callous and effortless manner.

The last time Dorcas made headlines, she was quoted accusing journalist Enock Sikolia of cheating on his wife.

America to Fund Locusts Epidemic Control

The United States of America (USA) government will fund control of the locust infestation in three Eastern Africa countries.

U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who made the announcement on Tuesday, said USA will provide $8 million (Ksh.800 million) in funding towards will go to Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.

The swarms, first sighted in December, have already destroyed tens of thousands of hectares (acres) of farmland in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia, threatening food supplies in the worst locust invasion in 70 years.

“The United States is providing $8M in additional funding to support regional locust control operations in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia,” said Pompeo in the joint press conference with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew.

This aid comes after the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) early in the month warned that the locusts could ravage more countries in Eastern Africa and threaten the livelihood of many more people.

The swarms, first sighted in December, have already destroyed tens of thousands of hectares (acres) of farmland in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia, threatening food supplies in the worst locust invasion in 70 years.

“There also other countries at risk, especially South Sudan, Uganda, Eritrea…,” said Bukar Tijani, assistant director-general of the FAO’s agriculture and consumer protection department.

FAO said at least one locust swarm had already been seen in Eritrea, and several had also been sighted in Oman and Yemen.

Even before the locust invasion, some 11 million people in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya were experiencing food insecurity, and the swarms will worsen the said
She was worried the locusts destroy their crops, and that another growing season due to start in April would be too short for any meaningful production.
“We depend a lot on this season and we worry that the locusts will destroy our harvest and we will end up remaining hungry through the rest of the year waiting for October for the next cropping season,” she said.

Pop Stars Alade and Kidjo Shoot in the Mara

Kenya’s Masaai Mara Game reserve is site where multiple award-winning African pop diva Yemi Alade premieres music video for the single SHEKERE, featuring multiple Grammy award-winning music icon Angélique Kidjo.

The SHEKERE music video, directed by Ovie with assistant director Taiye Aliyu, was shot in New York and largely in Kenya at the vast and grand Maasai Mara National Reserve, with the final scene at Sand River, bordering Tanzania.

SHEKERE on YouTube:

In the video, Yemi is flanked by dancers, all adorned in traditional jewellery from the Maasai community; this theme has dominated Yemi Alade’s style and artistry and promoted her status as a champion for Africa, among artists of her generation.

The cinematic visual opens up in dramatic sequence from Maasai Mara, with its backdrop being the authentic and unapologetic beauty of the African continent specifically Kenya – a second home to Yemi Alade.

The stunning collaboration is a result of the relationship that the two share, transcending music which led to Angelique Kidjo’s call for Yemi Alade to revamp her classic hit titled “Wombo Lombo”.

SHEKERE tells the story of Yemi joining the local celebrations or party through the sounds of the popular Yoruba percussion instrument, which usually makes an appearance when there is a cause for celebration, singing or dancing.

Yemi emotively sings before progressing into a stellar duet with the iconic Angélique Kidjo who also sings in her native Benin dialect over the groovy DJ Coublon orchestrated instrumentation—”I dey hear the sound of a tambourine o, Talking drums and shekere combination, I see people under the tambourine o, Dancing like sey there’s a celebration”.

“Shekere’’ off the album WOMAN OF STEEL heavily samples elements from the original Kidjo track but blends with the current mainstream Afro-pop/Afrobeats sounds.

SHEKERE is a rich and colourful affair, reminiscent of a Disney live-action remake and once again cements Yemi Alade’s throne as a royal of music videos.

The classic visual joins her elite videography part of which made her the first and only female Afro-pop artiste to have over 100 million views on a single video and over 1 million subscribers on her YouTube channel leading to a total cumulative visual stream of over 400 million views.

The song is sixth single off Yemi Alade’s critically acclaimed fourth studio album WOMAN OF STEEL, following hit singles “Home”, “Give Dem”, “Vibe”, “Shake” and Oh My Gosh”. The album features a host of international stars like Rick Ross, Angélique Kidjo, Lemar , Dadju , Duncan Mighty and Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele.
