The youth have thrown their weight behind the embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and asked former Dagoretti South Member of Parliament to keep off City Hall’s affairs.
The Kenya Youth Alliance (KYA) chairman Henry Shitandi accused Waweru of taking advantage of Sonko’s arraignment in court to undermine the Governor by alleging there is a crisis.
The youth were reacting to reports in the media by a group of former Nairobi County leaders, under the banner Nairobi County Leaders Caucus have advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve the county.
They said that there is no crisis in Nairobi as there are sufficient structures in place as provided in the law to ensure smooth service delivery by Sonko’s administration.
“The Nairobi County has a fully constituted cabinet, Chief Officers, and functional departments. The county employees have valid contracts to efficiently deliver services to Nairobians,” said the youth.
The youth told off Waweru and his group foe engaging in an ill-timed and misinformed cheap political mileage by capitalising on misfortune’s that have befallen Sonko.
“We wish to remind them that what Governor Sonko is undergoing is a normal and legitimate process, and that they have no capacity whatsoever to determine his guilt so as to allege that the County Government has collapsed due to his absence following a court order,” they said.
The Nairobi County Caucus leaders led former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and Ex Education CEC Janet Ouko, the group argued that the county is facing a crisis without governor Mike Sonko and a deputy in office.
“We are calling for the President to quickly move in to save Nairobi by taking decisive action.” they asserted.
The youth warned Waweru’s group to keep off from interfering with the Nairobi County government operations and stop reckless talk but find for themselves something useful to do.
