Former Thika United and KCB Assistant Coach Moses Irungu has expressed his sentiments on the coaching courses being offered by the Football Kenya Federation.

The current Federation has in the past four years trained over 2800 coaches in the Basic/Advanced (CAF D License) Level and a further 400 coaches in the CAF C Level.

The courses are offered free of charge across all the 20 FKF Branches, going a long way in not only building capacity in our grassroots coaches but also bridging an education gap that had denied local coaches job opportunities both at home and abroad.

Most recently, the Federation in conjunction with FIFA, actualized a first of its kind instructors’ course in the country which saw 60 Instructors get certified by FKF

“The coaching courses being offered by the current regime is a big plus to football, in that the players are being trained by more experienced coaches hence great improvement in the standards of football in the country,”said Moses Irungu

He further urged former football players to take up the coaching courses to increase their knowledge in football so as to build football in the country.

“I would like to urge former footballers to come forward and take up coaching courses to up their knowledge and use it to build football in the country,”continued Coach Irungu.

FKF Overrules SDT’s Consultative Forum over Polls

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has rubbished a consultative forum convened by the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) in regard to the upcoming FKF Elections.

The Tribunal convened a “stakeholders” forum on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, via a video link, to among other things, get views on how the elections should be conducted as a follow up its ruling delivered on March 17, 2020.

FKF distanced itself from the meeting and said it was not a party to the forum and does not recognize any resolutions that were passed.

Mwendwa, in a press conference convened on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, asserted that the federation will await FIFA’s direction in the FKF elections matter.

“FKF is an institution bound by its constitution as well as the FIFA statutes,” he said.

The federation in a letter addressed to the tribunal read:”Ideally, a mediation process is party-driven and voluntary. Usually, negotiations in mediation are undertaken before an impartial and neutral third party without decision-making powers.”

On March 17th, 2020, in a ruling that lasted close to two hours delivered by the SDT chairman John Ohaga nullified the FKF elections that had already been held up to the county level, disbanded the National Executive Committee, and asked Fifa to step in and put in place a normalisation committee within the next 30 days.

However on March 25th, , FIFA rejected the Sports Disputes Tribunal’s request for them to form a Normalisation Committee to oversee Football Kenya Federations’ operations after the Tribunal called to an end the FAs term of office on March 17.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the current FKF Executive Committee members, including its president office shall remain in office,” Fifa’s letter, which has been signed off by Fifa’s Chief Member Associations Officer, Veron-Mosengo-Omba.

In a letter addressed to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretary General, Barry Otieno by the Fifa it said the world body only recognizes decisions made exclusively by the Court of Arbitration for Sports that is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“Therefore, we wish to emphasize that the relevant SDT ruling has no legal effect on Fifa,” read the communication in a letter dated March 25th, 2020.

Betika Cushions Against Lack of Bundles to Bet

Published

A punter is inconsolable after predicting the right outcome but failed to place after his bundles got depleted to lose Ksh. 30,000.

Basing on this situation, have you ever predicted the outcome of a game, but for one reason or the other you fail to place a bet on it and then your prediction turns out to be correct?

Any punter will tell you that it’s one of the most painful things as you think about the odds and how much you would have made.

This happened to me just before the Bundesliga showdown between Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

A fellow punter and I got into football banter and we were trying to predict the correct score for the match. His prediction was a 2-1 win for Dortmund while I predicted a 1-0 win for Bayern and to show him just how confident I was with my prediction, I tried to place a Ksh 2,000 on a 0-1 correct score bet.

To my disappointment, my data bundle balance was 0.00MB and so I let it pass! Imagine my fury when I checked the fulltime score only to realize that I would have made a cool 30k from odds of 15, if I had gone ahead to place the bet!

Disappointed with myself, I set out to find out if there are ways to place bets without bundles. To my surprise, I found out that most betting firms do offer SMS betting but what intrigued me was Betika’s USSD betting option.

Not only can you bet before the game starts but you can also bet live during the match without using data bundles! It does not matter if you have mulika mwizi phone, all you need to do is dial *644# and with a minimum of 2 bob in your Betika wallet, you will find an array of options from upcoming games, odds and live matches to make you a winner!

I have tried it several times since then and I will never miss out on a bet again due to data bundles! I thought you should know!
