The 2017 Jubilee Party (JP) Nairobi women’s representative nominations hopeful lawyer Karen Nyamu has landed in a ministerial position at City Hall in a mini reshuffle by Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko.
Nyamu who is a director at Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company and has been appointed to head the Agriculture department is among the two new faces expected to join the cabinet if they survive vetting.
The other new appointee is George Fredrick Omogi at the Trade and Cooperatives department.
In a circular, Sonko sacked two ministers and reinstated the” Super County Executive (CEC)” journalist Charles Kerich and Mohamed Dagane who had been serving suspensions for the last three months.
Fired are Finance executive Pauline Kahiga and her Agriculture counterpart Winfred Gathagu.
Kerich returns to the Lands and Housing docket, which he held before he was suspended over the Precious Talents School tragedy in September last year.
Dagane has been moved from Health which he held prior to his suspension to the Roads, Transport and Public Works department.
The finance department will now be headed by Mr Allan Igambi from the Trade and Cooperatives department.
Vesca Kangogo has been moved from Environment and Water to Devolution and Public Service Management to swap places with Larry Wambua, who has been heading the Devolution docket.
Newton Munene has retained the ICT and E-government docket while Lucia Mulwa takes over the Education and Sports department previously held by educationist Janet Ouko who resigned in a huff.
Making a comeback is Hitan Majevdia, who has been heading the Transport department, before his suspension in 2018 and moved to the Health docket.
Retained are Leboo Morintat as the County Secretary, Lydia Kwamboka as County Attorney and Peter Kamau Mugo as Chief of Staff.
