Former National Youth Fund chairman Gor Semelang’o has joined former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka Wiper Patritotic Front (WPF) party led political outfit.
Semelang’o a youth development expert who unsuccessfully contested for Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidency in 2015 has been appointed to join the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) organ at a time when the party wants to tap and woo the Gen Z votes ahead of the next elections in 2027.
Semelang’o was received and welcomed by Kalonzo who is the WFP party leader during a meeting at the party’s Nairobi headquarters on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
“Gor Semelang’o has officially joined us. We look forward to his contribution, particularly in youth development and media engagement,” Musyoka said in a statement on X.
“The party now has a new face. Wiper is going national so that our Gen Z are fully included and represented,” said Kalonzo.
The businessman brings years of experience in youth empowerment and media to the Wiper Patritotic Front.
His appointment comes weeks after Kalonzo unveiled a rebrand of the party from the Wiper Democratic Movement to the Wiper Patriotic Front, with the new slogan #KomboaKenya aimed at rallying the public around a message of liberation and inclusivity.
WPF’s rebrand, unveiled on July 31, 2025, is designed to appeal particularly to Gen Z, inspired by their role in the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests.
Kalonzo promised to declare June 25 a public holiday if his administration takes office, in a symbolic pledge to honour the role of young Kenyans in pushing for a new political order
He said the day would serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Gen Z activists who have been at the forefront of demanding accountability and change.
“These young Kenyans have sacrificed themselves for the new Kenya; that is why I say that we will never forget them. I have promised that the 25th of June, under our administration, will be a public holiday,” he said.
