MIGORI, Kenya – Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has praised President William Ruto's administration for what he described as the most significant investment in sports infrastructure since Kenya attained independence.

Speaking in Migori County during the ODM Grassroots Mobilization Programme in support of women's groups, led by Hon. Junet Mohamed, Hussein said the ongoing construction of stadiums across the country will transform the future of Kenyan football.

"Since Kenya gained independence, our country has never witnessed the level of development in the sports sector—particularly in football—that we have seen over the past three years under President William Ruto's administration. More than 30 stadiums are being built across the country," said Hussein.

The FKF President thanked President Ruto for supporting sports development and reaffirmed the federation's commitment to working closely with the national government to grow football from the grassroots to the elite level.

"I thank the President for his support, and at FKF, we remain committed to working closely with the government to develop football from the grassroots across the country," he added.

During the event, Hussein also supported the women's empowerment initiative with a cash donation, underscoring his commitment to community development beyond football.

As he travelled back to Nairobi, the FKF President captured a breathtaking aerial photograph of the newly refurbished Raila Odinga Stadium in Nairobi and shared it on his social media platforms.

Captioning the image, Hussein wrote:

"I took this beautiful picture getting into Nairobi from Migori yesterday. Opening or closing ceremony for AFCON Pamoja 2027?"

The post quickly sparked excitement among football fans, with many expressing optimism that Kenya's expanding sports infrastructure could play a key role in hosting a memorable CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Pamoja 2027 alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

The continued construction and renovation of stadiums across the country is expected to enhance Kenya's readiness for the continental tournament while leaving a lasting legacy for football development at both the grassroots and professional levels.

With government support, renewed investment in infrastructure and collaboration between FKF and key stakeholders, Kenyan football appears to be entering a new era built on modern facilities and long-term growth.
