Free Russian Language Lessons on Offer for Kenyans
Nairobi residents will soon have a chance to learn Russian for free through a new certified language course set to begin next month.
The in-person programme, dubbed “Study Russian in Kenya 2026,” will begin on September 14, 2026.
The course is being organised by the Center for Open Education (TSPU), My History Fund and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
Participants will not pay any course fees as they will also have an opportunity to take part in events focused on Russian culture.
“The Center for Open Education (TSPU), My History Fund and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation invite you to participate in a free Russian language course,” the organisers said.
The course is certified and will combine language lessons with activities centred on Russian culture.
“The course is certified and during the program you will also be able to join various events related to Russian culture,” the organisers said.
All classes and activities will be held at the Kenya Institute of Foreign Languages & Professional Studies (KIFLAPS), the programme’s partner institution.
The organisers are urging people interested in learning Russian to register in advance.
Participants will also get an opportunity to explore Russian culture, traditions and everyday life.
“Discover Russian culture, traditions and everyday life!” the organisers said.
The programme will be delivered through in-person classes in Nairobi.
However, the organisers have not yet announced the exact class time.
Those who register will receive the details through the email address they provide during registration.
“You will be notified of the exact time at the email address you provide during registration,” the organisers said.
The organisers have also warned that the number of available slots is limited while urging those interested to register early.
The course is being promoted as a “100 per cent free!” opportunity for people who want to learn Russian without paying tuition fees.
In addition to language lessons, participants will be able to attend various events related to Russian culture.
The programme will therefore give learners an opportunity to combine language education with cultural activities in Nairobi.
