Gor Mahia Dim Murang'a Seal Under Floodlights in Season Opener

Record league champions Gor Mahia began their SportPesa League title with a flying by trouncing Murang'a Seal 4-2 in their opening Premier League encounter staged under the floodlights at Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.

The game was the first clash to be staged past dusk, despite FKF lifting a night match ban in April 2014 that it had slapped on Premier League clubs due to security concerns in the aftermath of the 2013 Westgate Mall terror attacks in Nairobi.

Alpha Onyango opened the floodgates with his opener in the fifth minute, with Shariff Musa bagging a brace either side of a Jackson Dwang's thunderbolt.

Former Gor Mahia forward Josphat Lopaga managed to put some respect on the scoreline by grabbing a brace in the final 15 minutes of the game for Murang'a Seal.

The late rally was not enough to salvage a point, let alone a victory, as Gor Mahia held firm to secure all three points. MSEAL’s struggles against K’Ogalo continued, extending their winless streak against the reigning champions to seven SportPesa League matches.
