Kenyans can now visit Senegal without a visa, at least for three months.
This follows a bilateral agreement between Kenya and Senegal that lifts visa restrictions, allowing citizens of both countries to travel to either state without a visa requirement.
The agreement, signed Tuesday at State House, Nairobi, between Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Senegal’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Niang, seeks to bolster diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.
During the official state visit to Kenya by Senegal President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, Kenya and Senegal agreed to scrap visa restrictions for all their citizens travelling between the two nations.
“We are pleased to announce a visa-free arrangement. This important milestone will foster stronger people-to-people ties and boost tourism, trade, and collaboration," President William Ruto said.
President Ruto and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal, who witnessed the signing of the agreement at State House Nairobi, said the visa-free travel arrangement for up to 90 days will strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and Senegal.
“In a bid to deepen our bilateral ties, we are working to remove barriers to improve our trade with Senegal,” Ruto added.
