Kenya Railways Warns Against Photoshoots on Railway tracks
Kenya Railways has issued a fresh warning to creatives, photographers, and members of the public against using railway tracks as photo or video shoot locations, stressing that the lines are strictly restricted, unpredictable, and dangerous.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the corporation cautioned that no photo or video is worth risking human life, urging content creators to prioritise safety over aesthetics. The agency reminded crews, influencers, and clients that railway corridors are operational zones designed for moving trains, not creative sets or social media backdrops.
“No shot is worth your life. Railway tracks are not a photoshoot location; they’re restricted, unpredictable, and dangerous. Protect yourself, your crew and your clients by keeping a safe distance. Let’s create responsibly and promote safety together,” the statement read.
While the warning may sound obvious, it reflects a growing concern that railway tracks have increasingly been treated as dramatic filming locations. From music videos to fashion shoots and social media reels, some creators have been drawn to the “cinematic” appeal of rails stretching into the horizon. Unfortunately, what looks good on camera can turn dangerous in real life within seconds, especially when trains approach silently or at high speed.
This is not the first time Kenya Railways has had to step in with public reminders. Over the past year and into 2026, the corporation has repeatedly issued alerts on different safety and public risk issues. These have included warnings against vandalism of railway infrastructure, motorists driving or parking on railway lines, and even people throwing objects at moving trains, all practices the agency has described as reckless and life-threatening.
The agency has also been active in fighting a growing wave of online fraud, including fake job advertisements and impersonation scams circulating on social media platforms.
