Man Driving Tuk-Tuk Attempts to Force Way into State House
A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to force his way into the restricted area of State House through Gate D in Nairobi on Sunday afternoon.
The incident was reported at about 1.32pm on October 4, 2026, after General Service Unit (GSU) security officers manning the gate noticed a man attempting to gain entry into the restricted area.
Police said the suspect was driving a tuk-tuk when he allegedly attempted to force his way through Gate D, which is manned by General Service Unit (GSU) officers.
The officers reportedly ordered him to stop, but he allegedly failed to comply and continued driving at high speed towards barriers near the gate.
He was intercepted and apprehended by the security officers before gaining access to the restricted area.
Upon questioning, police said he told officers that he wanted to meet the President.
He did not have an appointment for the said plan.
He was placed in custody pending further investigations and appropriate action. Police said he was under interrogation to establish more about his plans.
Operations were then mounted in the area. It is not clear if the president was present then. He had left Mombasa for Nairobi on Friday evening.
This is the latest such drama at State House amid heightened security. Officials said following the scare, security had been heightened to deter any other threat.
