Naivasha Mp Mp Jayne Kihara Dismisses Claims of Ditching Gachagua’s Dcp for United Democratic Alliance

Naivasha Member of Parliament (MP) Jayne Kihara has not abandoned the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)
The MP publicly dismissed claims that she has abandoned the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), terming the reports as propaganda driven by state-sponsored bloggers.
In a statement shared on her social media platforms on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Kihara strongly rejected the narrative linking her to the ruling party and maintained that she remains firmly aligned with the united opposition movement.
According to the legislator, the claims are part of a coordinated misinformation campaign aimed at discrediting leaders who have taken a firm stand against the current administration.
She described the individuals spreading the rumours as bloggers who are accustomed to transactional politics and believe that every politician can be bought. Kihara emphasised that her political journey is guided by values, principles, and conviction rather than money or political convenience.
These developments come at a time when the Democracy for Citizens Party is experiencing notable political turbulence, marked by a wave of defections to the ruling United Democratic Alliance.
Among the latest high-profile exits is Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who recently abandoned the DCP to rejoin UDA.
Before Kahiga’s defection, Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi had also left the DCP and aligned himself with President William Ruto’s party.
“I see Singaporean bloggers are now on my case. Someone must remind them who Jayne Kihara is in our Kenyan Politics. I think they’re used to dealing with politicians whose only language in politics is money and they now assume every politician has a price tag” Kihara stated.
