The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) Kalonzo has declared that he will not abandon the United Opposition bandwagon to join the President William Ruto team.
The former Vice President said he was in the united opposition to stay till they achieve their objective of removing President Ruto from power.
The declaration came days after the independence party Kenya African National Union (KANU) chairman Gideon Moi once a fierce critic of Ruto sealed a deal with the president in joining another opposition figure Raila Odinga in the broad based government.
Kalonzo said those thinking that he will be persuaded to join forces with the Kenya Kwanza administration, telling them to forget about it completely.
Kalonzo said joining the Kenya Kwanza government would be a betrayal of the ideology and values of the United Opposition coalition and its constituent parties.
“Ruto and his cronies have created a narrative that it is 40 versus one but let it be known to them that our team has the majority. We shall work and walk together as a team of the United Opposition,” said Kalonzo.
He said that he will not abandon former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua the of Democracy of Citizens Party (DCP), Eugene Wamalawa of Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Martha Karua (Peoples Liberation Party) and ex-Attorney General Justin Muturi of Democratic Party (DP) and other like-minded leaders in their crusade to make Ruto a one term president.
“We shall not join for the straightforward reason that such actions are a betrayal of the ideology, values, and tenets of both our coalition and unity as the United Opposition and our constituent parties,” said Kalonzo.
A day after Kalonzo was endorsed as the Wiper Patriotic Front presidential candidate, Rutos ally Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has claimed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is likely to form a political alliance with President William Ruto in the coming months.
In a post shared on his X handle, the senator took a swipe at Kalonzo’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) that took place on Friday, October 10, describing it as lacking the energy of a national political event.
“...Mark you, in a couple of months, the former vice president shall be in a working political relationship with President Ruto. That’s where his future lies...,” Cherargei wrote.
Speaking during a Church service at The Ambasadeurs for Christ Ministry Ciagi-Ini branch and rally in Mwea, Kirinyaga county on Sunday, October 12, 2025, Kalonzo rejected the overtures, saying he would not align himself with a government he accused of oppressing Kenyans.
He reaffirmed his stance against joining President William Ruto’s administration or collaborating with opposition leader Raila Odinga ahead of the 2027 general election.
Members of the United Opposition including Gachagua, Wamalwa, Karua and Muturi vowed not to be divided and soldier on to the ballot as a team behind their preferred presidential candidate in removing Ruto from power in the next general elections.
