Odalo Blasts Outgoing Mathare MP Antony Oluoch Over Alleged Distribution of Expired Food
Long-serving Mabatini MCA and Nairobi County Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Wilfred Odalo has called out outgoing Mathare MP Antony Oluoch over what he describes as the alleged distribution of expired food products to residents and churches within the constituency.
Odalo has accused Oluoch of exposing the people of Mathare to potentially unsafe food, urging the outgoing legislator to respect residents and ensure that any food distributed to the community is safe and fit for consumption.
The Mabatini ward representative raised particular concern over claims that the alleged expired food products are not only being distributed to individual residents but are also finding their way into churches and other community institutions within Mathare.
“Worse still, expired food stuff is being distributed to churches within Mathare,” Odalo said, questioning why products allegedly past their expiry dates would be given to members of the community.
Odalo has called on Oluoch to immediately stop what he described as the distribution of expired food and instead ensure that residents receive food that meets basic safety and quality standards.
A Long-Serving Voice in Mathare Politics
Odalo is currently the Mabatini Ward MCA, a position he has held for many years, giving him extensive experience in grassroots politics and community leadership within Mathare.
His long political career in the area has enabled him to build a strong network among residents and community leaders, while his continued presence in the county assembly has made him one of the more established political figures in the constituency.
He was recently re-elected as Chairman of the Nairobi County Assembly Budget Committee, further cementing his influence within the county assembly.
A Smooth Tenure at the Budget Committee
Odalo's tenure as chairman of the powerful Budget Committee has also stood out for its relative stability.
Unlike some of his predecessors, whose tenures in the committee were at times characterised by internal disagreements and political wrangles, Odalo has managed to steer the committee without similar public infighting since taking over.

“Respect the people of Mathare. They deserve better than expired food,” Odalo said.
