Nairobi Senator and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, will not be kicked out of the Party. Newly installed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Oburu Odinga acknowledged that the SG and other youthful politicians within ODM have occasionally expressed strong opinions on issues, but they remain part of the party. “You saw he is the one who read our party resolution. I have talked to him, and he has no issues. He is young and among the politicians with a strong opinion. He can at times go overboard, but we are with him in the party,” he stated. Oburu’s sentiments on the fiery politician come amid heightened reports that the SG could be on his way out of the party, a claim following the demise of Raila Odinga. The latest to back the assertions is former Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi, who claimed that a section of elected leaders from the Nyanza region wanted the ODM official to be ejected from the political outfit after the death of Raila Odinga. Oburu emphasised in any case of any overreach, the party will use available in-house regulations to rein in such individuals. “He is still with us and has done nothing wrong to be removed from the party. If it so happens we have a party mechanism for dealing with such issues internally as a party,” he added.
