Rain Expected in 15 Counties

The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in at least 15 counties, with Nairobi and several parts of Central Kenya expected to continue experiencing cool weather over the next two days.

In its latest weather outlook for August 6–7, issued on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the department said showers are likely in parts of the Rift Valley, Western Kenya, Nyanza and the Coast.

“Rainfall is expected in several counties,” Kenya Met stated.

The counties expected to receive rainfall include Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Busia, Kisumu, Siaya, Kericho, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga, Bomet, Nandi, West Pokot, Nyamira, Kisii, Kilifi and Lamu.

Meanwhile, Nairobi is among several counties expected to experience intermittent cool conditions during the forecast period.

Other counties likely to remain cool include Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Makueni and Kajiado.

The chilly weather comes after weeks of lower temperatures in Nairobi and surrounding areas, with many residents reporting cold mornings, cloudy afternoons and cool evenings.

The weather department has also warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots in parts of northern, eastern and coastal Kenya.

The strong winds are expected in Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu and Kitui counties.

The latest forecast comes as Kenya continues to experience seasonal weather changes, with some regions receiving rainfall while others remain cool and windy.
