Safaricom Hook and Sprite Empower Africa Nazarene University Students on Digital Content Skills
Safaricom Hook, in partnership with Sprite, has trained students at Africa Nazarene University in Ongata Rongai on digital economy skills, focusing on content creation, monetisation, and financial literacy.
The session, held under the ‘Hook’d on Fresh’ masterclass series, aimed to empower students to leverage social media platforms to create income opportunities while also encouraging responsible money management through saving and investing.
Industry experts including content creators Carrie Wahu and Tileh Pacbro led practical sessions on building sustainable digital careers, while Safaricom Wealth Management representative Alexander Matheka introduced the Ziidi Money Market Fund and highlighted the importance of early investment habits.
Safaricom said the initiative is part of its broader commitment to youth empowerment through digital inclusion and skills development.
“Digital platforms are creating new opportunities for young people, and our role is to ensure they are equipped to take full advantage of them in a sustainable way,” said Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali Kimanthi.
She added that partnerships like the one with Sprite help expand the reach and impact of youth-focused programmes.
The initiative has previously been rolled out in other institutions, including Eldoret, where hundreds of students benefited from similar training sessions.
