It was about fashion, movement and the collective joy of reliving the sounds that shaped a generation
Johnnie Walker in partnership with JGIP Events hosted The Heng event held at The National Museum of Kenya on October 17th, drawing together lovers of rhythm, culture and nostalgia for a night that celebrated Kenya’s Golden era of R&B, Hip Hop and new jack swing. The event transformed the venue into a vibrant capsule, echoing the soul, and groove of the 90s while blending it seamlessly with the energy of today’s creative scene. Guests were treated to an unforgettable live experience that was as much about music as it was about fashion, movement and the collective joy of reliving the sounds that shaped a generation. Since its debut in 2018, The Heng has evolved into one of Kenya’s most anticipated cultural showcases, spotlighting the country’s musical richness and creative depth. Over the years, it has provided a stage for more than 60 performers from vocalists and rappers to instrumentalists and dancers who have brought the spirit of the 90s to life with passion and authenticity. More than just an event, The Heng has become a movement dedicated to nurturing new artistic talent while celebrating the icons and influences that continue to inspire Kenya’s evolving urban soundscape.
