Naieobi Senator and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and his Linda Mwananchi movement brigade are set to be hosted by Wiper Patriotic Front leaders in a rally at Kaiti Market in Kaiti on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
The announcement was made by Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu, a member of the Wiper Patriotic Front, who shared the information on his social media pages on Thursday, March 5, 2026. He stated that the Linda Mwananchi rally will begin at 2:00 pm in Kaiti Constituency, Makueni County.
Other Wiper leaders expected to attend the political event include Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr, area Senator Dan Maanzo, and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.
The inclusion of Wiper leaders and members of Parliament in the rally comes days after Mavoko MP Patrick Makau joined the team in Kakamega. Now, his other party counterparts who also subscribe to the “Wamtam” slogan are set to attend the high-level event.
The Wiper party leaders attending the Linda Mwanachi rally, which is predominantly made up of ODM rebels, is not by coincidence, as this also comes at a time when Sifuna has shown a willingness to partner with the United Opposition team, where the Wiper party is an integral member.
Linda Mwananchi’s next political move
Speaking in a recent television interview about why Linda Mwananchi’s next political move could be the United Opposition, Sifuna stated that for President William Ruto to be defeated in next year’s election, there must be an overwhelming repudiation from Kenyans.
He emphasised that this can only be achieved if all like-minded individuals approach the election as a united front.
He committed to the fact that he will not be part of any vote-splitting plan and assured Kenyans that he will not let them down in their quest for change.
“If you speak to ordinary Kenyans, you know that when we need an overwhelming repudiation of William Ruto and everything that he stands for, it has to be overwhelming. We must beat William Ruto by at least 5 million votes,” Sifuna said.
“So for you to achieve that overwhelming repudiation, there is a common understanding amongst the population that we must approach this election as a unit,” Sifuna stated
At the same time, he urged the United Opposition to continue with its endeavours, noting that their political paths could intersect at some point.

Earlier, the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, had also hinted at the possibility of an alliance with the Sifuna-led team.
He stated that just as leaders within their formation are expressing interest in the flagbearer position, should the Linda Mwananchi team present a formidable candidate capable of carrying the movement’s aspirations, they would all rally behind that person.
He even mentioned Siaya Governor James Orengo as an example of a leader they could collectively support for the top seat.
Sifuna and had earlier announced, during their rally in Kakamega, that it would be their last rally until the holy month of Ramadan is over. They stated that they would resume their political activities with a maiden rally in Mombasa before proceeding to the lakeside counties.
He added that they intend to use this period to mobilise resources to expedite their political activities.
The Wiper party, through its leader Kalonzo Musyoka, has also in the past stood in solidarity with the Sifuna-led team after they were attacked during rallies in Kitengela, Kakamega, and Mbale.
