Zamara Partners with Amethis to Accelerate its Next Chapter of Pan-African Growth
Zamara, a leading pan-African financial and insurance solutions group, today announced the completion of an investment by Amethis, a leading Africa-focused investment firm, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Zamara's growth journey.
The partnership brings together Zamara's more than 30-year track record, deep client relationships, local market knowledge and diversified financial services capabilities with Amethis' experience investing in and supporting high-growth businesses across Africa.
The investment will support Zamara's long-term ambition to build a leading pan-African financial services platform, with a particular focus on accelerating investment in technology and digital capabilities, broadening and integrating client solutions, developing talent and leadership, deepening the Group's capabilities across its existing markets and pursuing disciplined regional growth.
Founded in Kenya in 1994 as a specialist actuarial business, Zamara has evolved over the past three decades into a diversified financial services group spanning pensions, insurance, reinsurance and actuarial services. Today, the Group operates across multiple African markets and serves corporate, institutional and individual clients, helping businesses strengthen employee benefits and enabling individuals to prepare for retirement, manage financial risks and improve their long-term financial wellbeing.
Sundeep Raichura, Group CEO of Zamara, said: "We are delighted to welcome Amethis as a strategic partner at this important stage of Zamara's journey. We were looking for more than capital - we wanted a partner that understands Africa, believes in the potential of our business and our people, and shares our ambition to build a leading pan-African financial services group.
"Over the years, our engagement with the Amethis team has demonstrated a strong alignment of values, ambition and long-term vision. Their experience in African markets, networks and commitment to supporting regional champions make them an ideal partner as we accelerate investment in technology and innovation, strengthen our capabilities and broaden the solutions we provide to our clients.
"This is about building on the foundations that have made Zamara trusted for more than three decades while giving us greater capacity to pursue the opportunities ahead. What defines Zamara does not change. What Zamara can achieve does."
Zamara's existing management team, led by Group CEO Sundeep Raichura, remains materially invested in the business and will continue to lead the Group. Amethis will be represented on Zamara's Board and will contribute its strategic perspective, experience and networks to support the Group's next phase of growth.
Frank-Astere Ndiyo Butoyi, Partner at Amethis, said: "Our investment in Zamara reflects a deep conviction in the Group's leadership, its purpose and its potential as a pan-African financial services platform. Over the years, we have built a genuine relationship of trust with Sundeep, James and the wider Zamara team, and we are proud to formalise that partnership at such an important moment in the company's journey.
"Zamara has built a respected platform, strong client relationships and deep expertise across its markets. From our teams in Nairobi and across the continent, Amethis looks forward to being a close partner in Zamara's next phase - helping strengthen its capabilities, accelerate innovation and extend its reach as it continues to power prosperity and financial wellbeing for businesses and individuals across Africa."
For Zamara's clients, the transaction provides continuity alongside increased capacity for future investment. Existing client service arrangements remain in place, and Zamara and its regulated businesses remain subject to their existing professional, contractual, fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities.
The partnership is intended to enhance Zamara's ability to serve its clients over time through stronger technology, deeper expertise, broader solutions and increased regional capability.
