Former Assistant Inspector General of Police King’ori Mwangi is dead, his family has confirmed.
The family said in a statement that Mwangi died on Sunday at a Nairobi hospital hospital where he was receiving treatment.
He served as a Provincial Police Office (PPO) in Mombasa, Nairobi and Western regions before being appointed as Assistant Inspector General.
He later joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he was attached until his retirement.
King’ori also served as the director of operations at police headquarters, police spokesman, director of Kenya Police Campus in Kiganjo and principal assistant.
“We wish to inform the public of the death of Mr Kingori Mwangi, a retired police officer. Kingori passed on this morning at a Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment. The family will update the public on the burial plans,” read the statement in part.
His former colleagues eulogized him as a dedicated man who was always steadfast in his work.
“He was a good man. May he rest in peace,” said one senior officer. He retired from the service in 2021 after attaining his retirement age.
