Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Nairobi’s former Education minister Janet Muthoni Ouko have been condemned for leading goons to invade Dandora Stadium.
On Friday, March 1st, 2024, Sifuna and Ouko accompanied by goons raided Dandora Stadium before they were repuslsed by police and security guards manning the facility ahead of its official launch on March 9th, 2024.
Sports stakeholders condemned the action by Sifuna whom they said is supposed to be advocationg and protecting the interests of Nairobians as the Senator.
“As the Senator he is supposed to oversight the county but instead in this case he was there to supervise destruction,” they said.
They wondered why Sifuna opted to take Ouko along with him to the stadium instead of being accompanied by the area Member of County Assembly (MCA).
“By Sifuna sneaking into the area without the local leadership which includes the area MCA and Member of Parliament among the local leaders shows that he was having ulterior motives,” they said.
Nairobi-based communication strategist and football stakeholder Kenn Okaka wondered what interest Ouko had in the stadium and yet she has no interests in sports.
“We have never seen Ouko being involved in sports activities anywehere in the county. Her involvement in the Dandora raid stadium is suspect. She is now dragging her political wars into sports,” said Okaka.
Okaka said after Muthoni Ouko unsuccessfully fought Sakaja’s Dishi na County school feeding program, has decided to move to other projects that the Governor is initiating and it is not a coincidence that she was involved in the recent raid at Dandora Stadium.
Nairobians called on the police to arrest Sifuna and Ouko to prosecuted for malicious damage, incitement, and any other criminal activity that took place in stadium during their visit at Dandora Stadium.
“The period of political campaigns ended one year ago after the 2022 general elections, what we expect from our leaders is for them to work for us. Leaders should not politicize projects that are beneficial to wananchi,” they said.
They said that they full support Sakaja’s development agendas and initiatives and asked Sifuna and Ouko to keep off.
