Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has suspended three referees, a goal keeper and team manager as FKF Disciplinary Department opened investigation into alleged involved in match fixing.
In a letter addressed to all FKF members, the federation General Secretary and CEO Barry Otieno said the five individuals referees Meshach Omondi, Jacqueline Barongo and Stephen Adeya had been suspended from all football related activities along with FC Talanta goalkeeper Kelvin Otieno Olang’o and Kibra United FC team manager Abdulkarim Amere.
The five will remain provisionally suspended from all football related activities until the FKF Disciplinary committee conducts and concluded its investigation into the alleged match fixing and issue its verdict.
“Football Kenya Federation wishes to inform all members that the FKF Disciplinary Department has opened investigation into alleged match fixing involvement…. The individuals have been suspended from all football related activities with immediate effect,” read Otieno’s letter in part.
Members of FKF have been instructed not to have any football contact with the suspended individuals.
Football Kenya Federation Disciplinary Department has been working to curb the rising cases of match manipulation. The federation banned several individuals who were found to have been involved in match fixing in a case that saw Zoo Jericho relegated from the FKF Premier League.
