Uganda won the inaugural edition of the Africa women’s Homeless Cup in Tanzania to book a ticket to the World Cup as Kenya settled for the bronze medal in Tanzania.
Uganda (Youth Sport Uganda organization) rallied from a goal down to trounce 6-1 the host country, Tanzania in the finals in Arusha on Sunday, 30th June 2024.
Kenya edged out Zambia , as Malawi were placed in fifth place by beating South Africa 8-7 in the play-offs.
Tanzania took the lead that was overturned as Uganda ran riot to win the contest.
Uganda will now represent Africa at the 2024 Homeless World Cup in Seoul city, Korea between 21st to 28th September, 2024.
Uganda eased past Kenya 3-0 in the semi-finals whilst hosts Tanzania edged Zambia 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.
Kenya went on a goal scoring spree in the preliminary matches by silencing South Africa 5-3 before trouncing Zambia 5-2 to book a semi-final spot.
Eight countries took part in the tournament that was organized by the Homeless World Cup organization and Future Stars Football Academy, Arusha.
Hosts Tanzania were joined by Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and champions Uganda.
