President William Ruto has assigned Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) Musalia Mudavadi, Aden Duale and Salim Mvurya additional dockets in an acting capacity following the recent cabinet shake up.
The changes announced on Saturday by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei will see Mudavadi, the current Prime CS and CS for Foreign Affairs, also take charge of the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy.
Duale, the current CS for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, will also handle the Agriculture and Livestock Development docket.
Meanwhile, Mvurya, who heads the Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Ministry, will be the acting Investments, Trade and Industry Ministry CS.
The new assignments follow President Ruto’s December 19 Cabinet reshuffle, in which Kipchumba Murkomen was moved from Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports and nominated to head the Interior Ministry; Mvurya, formerly the CS for Investments, Trade, and Industry, replaced him.
Former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was nominated to take over the Trade Ministry Mvurya headed, while Mutahi Kagwe a former CS in Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, was put forth for the Agriculture Ministry.
William Kabogo was meanwhile nominated CS for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy.
Members of Parliament are set to vet the ministerial appointees on January 14, 2025.
The December 19 Cabinet changes followed President Ruto’s appointment of Kithure Kindiki, formerly the CS for Interior, as Deputy President in October after Rigathi Gachagua was impeached. : Rewrite the story to be published on a news website. Add headline and add more content to the story
