Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, alias Kibet Bull, known for his viral caricatured silhouettes of President William Ruto, has been released after his abduction in Nairobi.Kibet was abducted by suspected security officials on December 24, 2024, shortly after meeting Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah at the latter’s office in Nairobi.
His family confirmed his safe return on Monday, noting that he has since returned to Nakuru.
Kibet announced his release via social media platform X, revealing that he was dumped in the Luanda area of Vihiga County around 3-4 a.m. on Monday.
Stranded and unsure of his next steps, he reportedly attended a local “disco matanga” (overnight funeral dance) before booking a bus ticket home.
His release marks the fifth case of missing persons suddenly reappearing in different parts of the country, raising questions about the ongoing abductions.
On Monday morning, families of Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Rony Kiplangat reported contact with their loved ones. Mwangi and Muteti have already reunited with their families.
