New Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Abdi Ahmed Mohamud has been sworn into office today Monday, January 13 2024.
During the swearing ceremony Mohamud vowed to uphold diligent leadership and execute his mandate with integrity.
“I am aware of the huge responsibilities and expectations Kenyans bestow upon the EACC. I wish to offer my commitment and fidelity to the oath of office that I subscribed to in combating corruption, economic crimes and ethical conduct in our country,” he said.
Chief Justice Martha Koome presided over the swearing ceremony congratulating Mohamud upon his appointment top the coveted position, noting that he will be expected to bolster justice and support the Judiciary realize its duties.
“You will be embracing the trust and the confidence of Kenyans who will be looking up to you with great hope and expectation,” Koome noted.
Mohamud was nominated after a thorough interview process, in which more than 172 candidates had applied for the job.
He takes over from Twalib Mbarak whose six-year term came to an end on Friday, January 10.
Before becoming Deputy CEO, he served as the Commission’s Director in charge of investigations for over ten years.
He had previously served as the Director of Investigation before rising through the ranks to become the deputy CEO.
