Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, 57, is dead, Senate Speaker Amazon Kingi confirmed, Sunday February 16, 2025.
Reports from the family of the Senator said on Sunday that the United Democratic Movement (UDA) lawmaker passed on on Saturday night.
The first-time senator has been unwell and was discharged from hospital on February 9 to recuperate at home, according to his colleagues.
The cause of his death is yet to be made public.
Shortly after the news broke, President William Ruto mourned him as a progressive leader who was dedicated to public service.
“Senator William Cheptumo was a progressive leader who was dedicated to public service. He was vocal, hardworking, and a tireless champion for the transformation of Baringo,” the Head of State eulogised.
