Nzoia returned back to the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) as Ulinzi and Kenya Police on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
Nzoia Sugar 0 AFC Leopards 0
Nzoia jumped back to the top of the FKF PL race despite fighting to a 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards at Sudi Sports ground in Bungoma as the Ingwe goalkeeping trainer Lawrence Webo was red carded.
Webo was sent off in the closing stages of the match for incessantly questioning the centre referee David Mulongo over some of the decisions that went against the visitors.
This season Nzoia have shared points three times at home with previously been held by Kakamega Homeboyz and Bandari in front of their fans.
The sugar millers had slipped to the second place after their closest challenger Gor Mahia went top on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 from the three points gained after beating Nairobi City Stars.
Gor’s win over City Stars saw the record champions match their points with that of Nzoia who have an inferior goal difference compared to theirs.
K’Ogalo, have a chance of opening a five-point gap between them and Nzoia should they emerge victorious in the two matches in hand.
Vihiga Bullets 0 Ulinzi 1
A lone goal by teenage sensation Staphod Odhiambo is what Ulinzi Stars needed to pip Vihiga Bullets 0-1 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
Odhiambo who came into the field as a second half substitute sent the defender the wrong way in the box before blasting the ball into the net with his first touch of the game after receiving a pass from Shannel Makwata to bag maximum points for the Soldiers.
This was the third goal of the campaign for the youngster who opened his scoring account with a brace in the 2-1 win over Bandari FC last month at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata.
Kenya Police 1 Bidco United 0
Elvis “Machapo” Rupia‘s 10th goal of the season was enough for Kenya Police to see off Bidco United 1-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Rupia raced into the Bidco danger zone and beat Daniel Odiwuor with a low shot into the bottom right corner to break the deadlock two minutes before halftime.
