August 9th Declared a Public Holiday to Allow Kenyans Vote

The government has declared Tuesday, August 9, 2022 a public holiday, to allow Kenyans to vote in the general elections.

“It is notified for information to the public pursuant to and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (4) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government declares Tuesday, August 9, 2022, as a public holiday to afford the people of Kenya the opportunity to participate in the 2022 General Elections,” a gazette notice issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i  dated August 4 read in part.

Kenya will head to the polls in exactly four days to vote for a new Head of State, Governors, Senators, Members of Parliament, Woman Representatives and Members of County Assemblies.
