Azimio Removes Fatuma Dullo as Senate Minority Whip

Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition leadership has removed Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo as the Minority Whip in the Senate.

The coalition’s leader Raila Odinga announced on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 about the changes.

Dullo who is among the Jubilee Party senators who have decamped to the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, will be replaced by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina.

Olekina was, until his promotion, Dullo’s deputy.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will now be the Deputy Minority Whip to replace Olekina.

Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo remains the Minority Leader in the Senate, deputised by his Kitui counterpart Enoch Wambua.

The changes come amid increased haemorrhage from the Azimio Coalition, with at least 30 Jubilee MPs declaring support for President William Ruto, and some MPs in ODM Party, which is led by Odinga, pledging to work with the Head of State.

“Some [Azimio] officials, who were there before, have opted to work with the Majority Party in the Senate, and we want to be focused. We have asked our team to continue to represent Azimio effectively in the House,” Odinga said after unveiling the Senate leadership.

“We want the new leadership to continue articulating issues affecting our people right now,” the Azimio leader added.
