Kenya has a positivity rate of 5.4% after recording 394 new Covid-19 cases on September 24th, 2021 from a sample size of 7,254 tested in the last 24 hours,
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Health said the total confirmed positive cases are now 248,069 while the cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,527,861.
The 394 cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 108, Nakuru 39, Meru 23, Uasin Gishu 22, Kiambu 21, Baringo 16, Laikipia 15, Kajiado 13, Narok 11, Garissa 11, Bomet 9, Wajir 8, Kericho 8, Kisii 7, Nyeri 7, Turkana 7, Machakos 6, Bungoma 6, Embu 6, Migori 5, Murang’a 5, Kakamega 4, Nyandarua 4, Kilifi 4, Kitui 4, Makueni 4, Marsabit 3, Busia 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Kirinyaga 2, Kisumu 2,
Homa Bay 2, West Pokot 2, Mombasa 2, Nandi 1, Siaya 1, Tharaka Nithi 1 and Lamu 1.
At the same time, 37 patients are reported to have succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of June, July and September 2021.
This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,082.
Meanwhile, 414 patients have recovered from the disease with 367 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 47 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stands at 239,298 of whom 193,425 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 45,873 are from various health facilities countrywide.
A total of 1,241 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,707 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 87 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 51 of whom are on ventilatory support and 31 on supplemental oxygen. Five patients are under observation.
“Another 373 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 360 of them in general wards and 13 in High Dependency Units (HDU),” said the Ministry.
