Dramatic incident happened at Kongelai in West Pokot after a man who was though to have died returned home during his burial. Kangrok Muriumeler had gone missing after making a trip to Nairobi.
His family begun looking for him and later the family received reports from Vegetable vendors at Konglai market that Kangrok’s body had been found decomposing near the market. This forced the family to begin preparing for his burial.
After the police officers collected the decomposing body, the family concluded that the male body was their kin who had gone missing for a week.
Kangrok Muriumeler who was a livestock trader later surfaced during his burial. The mourners who had gathered at the home of the “dead man” were forced to run for their lives.
However, Muriumeler spoke and cleared doubts he was actually alive and not dead. The man says that he had a very difficult time explaining to the people that he was actually not dead.
Despite having explained to the family, he says that they could not believe it, a thing that has left him in shock. The man says that after returning from Nairobi, he visited his friends at Chepareria which is a distance from his home village.
After returning home, some of the people in his home village even told Muriumeler that it was his spirit and not him as they could not believe that he was alive.
The OCS of Kapenguria area Mr Lucas Wamocha confirmed the incident and said that the body of the unknown person had been moved back to Kapenguria County Referral Hospital mortuary adding that it is yet to be identified.
