The Ministry of Sports has appointed former Kenya’s national football team Harambee Stars striker and the 2006 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) top scorer Boniface Ambani as the chairman of an interim soccer caretaker committee to run the football affairs in the country.
Others in the committee that is yet to be made public due to the fear of a public outcry from football stakeholders are former Kenya Football Federation (KFF) Vice President Twaha Mbarak, record top flight league champions Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, Ex National Super League (NSL) side Shabana FC Chief Executive Officer Kerubo Momanyi, Former Nairobi city stars Team Manager Herbert Kunga.
Ministry of Sports and Culture advisor and chairman of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University Dr Walter Ongeti, Brigadier (Retired) Morris Supeyo are the other members of the committee.
The other names being rumoured to have been enlisted in the committee are of a a Sports editor working for a leading newspaper in the country and a former Harambee Stars coach.
The action by the government is expected to attract a ban from he world governing body Fifa as Harambee Stars, Gor Mahia, Tusker and Vihiga Queens are preparing for continental assignments
