In a surprising turn of events, Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, faced a shocking defeat at the hands of South Sudan in a highly anticipated match on Tuesday evening. The match, held at the MISC Kasarani in Nairobi, Kenya, ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favor of South Sudan.

The game got off to a relatively balanced start, with both teams showing glimpses of their attacking prowess. Harambee Stars, led by their captain and star striker, put immense pressure on the South Sudanese defense in the early stages of the match. However, they struggled to convert their chances into goals.

South Sudan, on the other hand, took a more conservative approach, focusing on a solid defensive strategy and counter-attacking football. This tactic paid off in the 2nd minute when they broke the deadlock. A swift counter-attack saw South Sudan’s forward, Tito Okello, make a well-timed run behind the Kenyan defense. He capitalized on a miss pass by Harambee Stars’ Joseph Okumu to slot the ball past the on-rushing Bryne Odhiambo, Harambee Stars’ goalkeeper.

Harambee Stars fought valiantly for the better part of the match, pressing hard for an equalizer, but South Sudan’s defense held firm. Despite several close calls and near misses, Kenya couldn’t find the back of the net again.

The defeat comes as a setback to the team, just days after picking up a 2-1 win over Qatar in yet another international friendly match played at the Al Janoub Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
