KENYA WINS ROUND ONE AND TWO OF THE 2022 VICTORIA CUP

 

Kenya wins round one and two of the 2022 Victoria Cup. The perfect match of Dennis Maara and Michael Karanga beat Godfrey Nsubuga & Tom Jingo of Uganda on the first round (3/2) and 7/6 on the second round.

Team Kenya won the first round after beating team Uganda in all rounds. The Second round was tight for team Kenya Juniors Njoroge Kibugu and Andrew Wahome who were beaten by Joseph Cwinyaai & Joseph Akena from Uganda 3 & 2.

The First and Second round of the three day 2022 Victoria Cup kicked off at Limuru Country Club on Friday 29th July.

The format of the first round was four ball where 8 players braved the misty chilly cold Limuru weather with Denis Maara & Michael Karanga(Kenya) vs Godfrey Nsubuga & Tom Jingo (Uganda) teeing off at 8.30 am followed by Adel Balala & Sammy Mulama (Kenya) vs Joseph Kasozi & Michael Alunga ( Uganda) at 8.40am ,Joseph Cwinyaai and Joseph Reagan Akena of Uganda vs Kenyas Njoroge Kibugu and Andre Wahome and Ibrahim Bagalana and Dennis Asaba of Uganda playing against John Lejirma and Daniel Kiragu.

Kenya has won the event three times since its inauguration in 2016 where as Uganda won the event in 2019. The event did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid 19 Pandemic.

‘We are ready for another win and to keep the trophy back home’ Said team captain Dennis Maara.
