Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has intervened to save Kasipul residents in Homabay County from further losses of lives and livelihoods through the construction of a key bridge and route.
The residents have suffered deaths while trying to cross the bridge and massive losses amounting to millions of shillings due to the impassable dilapidated Nyiwir Bridge in Kodera Kamiyawa in South Kasipul.
The local traders and farmers were unable to cross the bridge and ferry their supplies for sale to other parts to end up not transacting business.
Kidero was able to mobilise other development minded leaders to raise over sh 800,000 towards the project, surpassing the required shs 500,000.
Kidero sent his donation through former Kasipul Kabondo ODM secretary Mr. Aggrey Otore , with a message to Homa Bay residents to embrace unity and focus on development.
Others who donated include the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) chairman Odoyo Owidi with Sh200,000, former Kasipul MP, Oyugi Magwanga (Sh 20,000), Juma Jalang’o (Sh70,000), former SASRA CEO Carrilus Ademba (Sh100,000), Kisumu deputy governor Dr. Mathew Owili (Sh50,000) and Mr. Joel Opar’s 50,000 among others.
