Kioni, Murathe’s Jubilee Party Suspensions Stopped

The Political Parties Dispute Tribunal has suspended the suspension of Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and Vice Chairperson David Murathe.

The orders were issued by the tribunal chairperson Desma Nungo barring the Political Parties Registrar from upholding a Jubilee Party NEC’s resolution that suspended them pending hearing of a case they have filed challenging the move.

“Pending inter partes hearing and determination of the application, interim conservatory orders are hereby issued staying the Respondent’s decision communicated vide the letter dated February 13, 2023, to the effect that the (Jubilee Party NEC) meeting (held on February 10, 2023) was properly convened per the party constitution and further staying any consequential action by the Respondent towards effecting, adopting or ratifying the resolutions of the subject meeting,” Nungo has ordered.

She further directed Kioni and Murathe to serve the Jubilee party, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and Joshua Kutuny with the lawsuit papers by close of business tomorrow Friday.

However, the Jubilee party, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and Joshua Kutuny have been granted five days to file their responses to the lawsuit.

The tribunal further directed the case to be mentioned on February 23, 2023, at 2.30 pm virtually to confirm compliance and for further directions.
