Kosgey, Hussein appointed to high statehouse offices

Former Citizen TV anchor and journalist Hussein Mohammed has been appointed the new statehouse spokesperson, replacing his former colleague Kanze Dena.

According to official communication from the head of public service Joseph Kinyua, Hussein, who worked as the UDA party head of communication will now head the converged communication at the statehouse while President Dr. William Ruto’s long-time director of communication David Mugonyi will now be the head of the Presidential communication service.

The appointments made yesterday also announced that the new Chief of staff and head of the Public service will be former Cabinet Secretary Felix Kosgey who replaces Kinyua in the powerful office. Kosgey will be assisted by former Turkana governor Josphat Nanok as the deputy chief of staff. Nanok was instrumental in Ruto’s Presidential campaigns.

Former Kajiado south member of Parliament Katoo Ole Metito who lost in the Kajiado county gubernatorial contest will replace Kinuthia Mbugua as the new Statehouse comptroller as economist Dr. David Ndii assumes the role of chairperson in the President’s council of economic advisors.

Former PS Kamau Thugge will now be a Senior advisor and the head of fiscal affairs and budget policy as Augustine Cheruiyot becomes the senior advisor and head of the economic transformation secretariat.

The appointments also saw Mr. Mohammed Hassan appointed a member of the President’s Council of economic affairs. Dr. Nancy Laibuni has been appointed an associate to the President’s council of economic advisors.

These appointments are a step by the President to start the process of reviving the economy which is at a low ebb.
