Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield in the Merseyside derby to end a four-game winless run in the English Premier League (EPL) on Monday, February 13, 2023 Night English Football.
Egyptian forward Mo Salah broke the deadlock for Liverpool in the 36th minute just 16 seconds after Everton’s James Tarkowski headed against the post from a corner as Liverpool opened up with a counter, before Dutch international Cody doubled their advantage from close-range (49) to put the game out of sight for the timid Toffees.
Gakpo scored his first goal for Liverpool since being signed from 24 times Dutch Erdevise champions PSV Eindhoven during the mid season transfer.
Everton failed to capitalise on the momentum from beating Arsenal at Goodison Park in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge and remain in the relegation zone after another disappointing display at Anfield.
Liverpool, meanwhile, move above Chelsea into ninth in the table after extending their unbeaten Anfield run in the derby.
