Lotto Ventures Into Discovery Cross Country to Discover Talent

After being involved in the Athletics Kenya national cross country championships in Ruiru, Lotto moved on board to promote the nurturing of talent at the 32nd edition of the Discovery Cross Country race at Eldoret Club on January 29th, 2023.

Lotto was on board as a sponsor and its management led by the Chief Executive Officer Dr Joan Mwaura was on the ground to grace and participate in the event as the main stakeholders of sports.

The event attracted 3,000 athletes, competing in the various categories. These included 500m for under five years, 1km for boys and girls aged seven, 2km for boys and girls aged 12, the normal 6km junior women, 8km junior men, 8km senior women and 10km senior men

Discovery Kenya Cross Country, regarded as the best and most prestigious cross country competition, makes a bold comeback on Sunday, January 29 2023 at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Just like other editions, the sole intention of this year’s event will be to identify and nurture athletic talents with Lotto as a partner in the venture.

The competition has produced top athletes in Kenya including two-time world record holder Eliud Kipchoge, 1500m double Olympic and World Champion Faith Chepngetich, 3000m double Olympic champion, and three-time world Champion in steeplechase Ezekiel Kemboi, Kenyan middle-distance runner Daniel Komen, and two-time Olympian in the 10,000m Alice Timbilil among others.

The race, which is among the biggest cross country meetings in the country, stands out as a yard stick to test ground ahead of the Sirikwa Classic formerly Agnes Tirop Memorial meet –the World Athletics Continental Tour –set for Lobo village in Eldoret on February 4th, 2022.

Lotto will be back in Eldoret for the Sirikwa Classic as partners of Athletics Kenya (AK) coming in as sponsors of the international event entering its second year.
