PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AND UNITY AMONG ALL PEOPLE OF ISIOLO

We are all aware of how our County has been rocked by endless violence, loss of lives and property for years. My fellow Isiolo peacebuilders, instability in our County has not only robbed us human lives and property but it has robbed and killed the future of our children and of the generations to come. Instability and insecurity has blocked any possible economic growth and investments in our County.

It is for this reason today, Isiolo County has almost the highest rate of unemployment for youth and adults in Kenya.

Peaceful coexistence and unity among all , will mean we, Isiolo people, will have secure and safe environment for our children to go and to stay in school and learn without disturbance. It will mean our teachers will have safe and secure environment to give our children the quality education that they deserve. It will mean our doctors, nurses and all health care providers will have safe and secure environment to provide us (Isiolo people) with the quality care that we deserve.

Peaceful coexistence and unity means we, the People of Isiolo, can provide wild animals in our local National Parks with safe and secure environment to thrive without disturbances; hence, promoting tourism which is our key job provider in our County. As a result of insecurity in our County our tourism industry has died a natural death leading to unemployment of our youth.

Peaceful coexistence and unity in our County will mean providing security to both our local and foreign investors. When our local businesses grow then there is more job creation for our youth.

We know a lot of small local businesses like hawking, car washing, grocery selling, charcoal and our boys who sell curio or in the amber business were all closed down leading to Isiolo folks being unemployed.

Our mushrooming local Banks are a growing employment opportunity for our local children. For them to flourish their business and be able to hire more of our local youth, they need a safe and secure environment.

We have lost tonnes of domestic animals (cows, goats, camels.etc) which has affected the livelyhood of the majority of Isiolo County people. This is where our pastoralist families get their daily bread.

As a concerned mother and a community leader, I want our youth to live and enjoy their lives like the rest of the youth of world.

Let us provide them with constructive values by respecting and embracing one another as One Community, One People, One Isiolo…One Love.

Isiolo People — There is nothing WRONG with our County that cannot be cured with what is RIGHT in our County.

Isiolo People — What holds us together is GREATER than what divides us.

Isiolo People — It is our collective responsibility to now maintain PEACE in our County and put our youth back to work.

ISIOLO PEOPLE — Let us take personal responsibility in promoting peace by adopting non-violent means for resolving conflicts. No one will come from Mars to do it for us. I believe we can do it, if only we sit down and look back how much property, how many human lives and innocent animals we have lost, how much our children have lost in terms of education, how many small business have been closed down hence increasing unemployment, how many innocent beings have been maimed, how many children have been left orphaned, how many innocent women are widowed and how many innocent men are widowers. Isn’t it worthy of our dedication and efforts to promote and maintain PEACE in our Home County of Isiolo.

I have, therefore, chosen this time and this day to discuss a topic on which ignorance too often abounds and the truth is too rarely perceived–yet it is the most important topic on earth:
PEACE

What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? I am talking about genuine Peace, the kind of Peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind of Peace that enables tribes, clans, gender, people of all religions & backgrounds and nations to grow, to hope and to build a better life for their children—not merely peace for Isiolo County but Peace for all men and women–not merely peace in our time but Peace for all time.

Isiolo People — Diversity is Strength and we need Strength to become Stronger. And this is the reason why my number one priority is: PROMOTING PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE & UNITY in our great County of Isiolo..

AMANI , PEACE, NAGAA, NABATH, EKISIL, THIIRI, SERIAN.

God Bless you all, God bless Isiolo, God bless Kenya,

Hon.Lucy Mworia – Mama Amani, is the Founder,Women for Peace & Development And the Incoming MP for Isiolo North constituency
