Mathare United edged out the 2018 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup champions Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Annex in Nairobi.
The win pushed Mathare United out of the automatic relegation places as they now sit 16th on the log with a total of 9 points.
Donald Ange shot Mathare United into the lead from the spot in the 28th minute after being fouled by Timothy Ekhavi for the referee to order for a penalty.
Mathew Kibiwott equalized for Kariobangi Sharks just before half time for a 1-1 stalemate at the breather.
Daniel Otieno looped the ball over the Sharks goalkeeper Kevin Ouru with a header from a throw in ball by Brian Okeyo for the winning goal in the 85th minute.
Kariobangi Sharks, with their fourth loss of the season, are thirteenth with 16 points collected.

Henry “Gaucho” Juma netted twice to condemn Vihiga Bullets to a 3-0 loss and consign them to the basement of the league at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.
In the 39th minute, Juma finished with an easy tap from Benson Iregi for the opener before adding nine minutes into the second half through the same combination.
Ezekiel Okare came off the bench, won a penalty, and converted to secure the three points.
The win lifts Bidco United to tenth in the log with 19 points.
