The Kisima Awards winners and popular Gengetone boy trio Mbogi Genje have thrown their weight behind businessman Anthony Waithaka aka Makadara 1 for the Makadara constituency parliamentary seat in the forthcoming Kenya’s general elections scheduled for August 9th, 2022.
Speaking to KenyaOnlineNews.Com, the group members, Smady (Antony Odhiambo), Guzman (Teddy Ochieng) and Militant (Malaka Yuen), urged their fellow youths to support Waithaka.
The group, who gained their fame at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, said Waithaka was the suited candidate to be Makadara’s next MP.
The trio caught on youtube drumming support Waithaka in sheng saying,”Tunawachapia kila youth, Makadara in jas yaani Anto ule mjamos, yaani Makadara 1 mkae riang, ni mnoma sana. Makadara Bazu ni Mjasi, Swafi.”
Sheng masters Mbogi Genje beat afro-pop band Sauti Sol to win the coveted music Group of The Year award at the 2020 Pan African Kisima Awards.
The eastlands based Ngumi Mbwegze hitmakers caught many by surprise as they only shot to fame last year.
The singers were nominated alongside, Sauti Sol, Diamond (Tanzania), Meddy (Burundi) and Daddy Andre (Uganda).
