A case facing the Kapsaret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi of allegedly forging academic certificates  failed to take place on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 following the transfer of trial Magistrate Felix Kombo.

Owing to the new developments, Sudi’s defense team urged Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyuki to grant them more time as they write to Chief Justice Martha Koome requesting her to allow the matter be concluded to finality by Magistrate Kombo.

They said it would only be prudent to have the matter concluded by Kombo as the investigating officer is finalizing his evidence.

The case was to proceed for hearing with the evidence of the investigating officer being the only part pending.
Magistrate Nzyuki subsequently directed the matter to be mentioned on August 31 for further directions.

Sudi has been charged with forging his academic certificates and presenting a false declaration to the IEBC officials while seeking clearance from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and the Ethics and Anticorruption Commission to contest in the 2013 general elections.

He is also accused of making a false declaration under oath through a self-declaration form to IEBC at Barng’etuny Plaza in Eldoret in 2015. This is contrary to section 46 of the Leadership and Integrity Act.
