Kennedy Ombima, better known by his stage names King Kaka musician of the popular and controversial hit song “Wajinga Nyinyi” has aroused controversy in the sports scene by declaring support for Kenya’s record football champions Gor Mahia instead of AFC Leopards.
King Kaka who is from the Luhya tribe which AFC Leopards draws support has opted to support Ingwe’s rivals which enjoys support from the Luo community.
King Kaka recently was spotted attending Gor’s recent match against the defending Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) champions Tusker FC at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The musician was expected to attend the mid week FKF PL fixture cum Valentine’s Day match between Gor Mahia against Wazito at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, scheduled for, Tuesday, February, 14th, 2023.
“Am a supporter of Gor Mahia and I will be attending all their home matches. I call on others to support their respective teams in the Kenyan Premier league by coming to the stadium and also follow our local games instead of being glued on tvs watching matches of European leagues,” he said.
The Luhya community and AFC Leopards feel this is a sign of betrayal when one of their own decides to support their rivals Gor Mahia which is predominantly backed by the Luo tribe.
