Policeman Ethan Maina’s lightweight battle against soldier Washington Wandera is one of the highlights in today’s finals of the low-key second leg of the Kenya National Boxing League at Karapul Catholic Church Hall in Siaya County, about 318km from Kenya’s capital city Nairobi.
Maina is of the nine international boxers in the finals. Others are Zone 3 flyweight champion David Karanja, featherweight Pauline Chege, featherweight Shaffi Bakari, light-middleweight Boniface Mogunde, middleweight Okong’o, cruiserweight Hezron Maganga, heavyweight Peter Abuti and minimumweight Christine Ongare.
All of them except Maganga are favoured to win their bouts while to some of them it’s just the usual picnic.
Maganga faces the never-say-die cop Humphrey Ochieng aka Jakababa in a bout which could go either way.
