Police Officers Get Pay Rise

 Police officers have been considered for a pay rise after a three-year wait for salary reviews.

In the latest salary review, police officers will get a pay rise of between Ksh.1,200 to Ksh.11,000.

A police constable earning Ksh.20,390 currently will from end of August earn Ksh.21,645. A police constable earning Ksh,34,010 will get Ksh.35,389 after the review.

For a police corporal earning Ksh.37,700, they will get a salary increment of Ksh.1,379. A police sergeant who earns Ksh.45,800 will move slightly higher to Ksh.47,279 after the review.

For Police Inspectors and Chief Inspectors with a gross salary of Ksh.60,000 to Ksh.70,000, it is a salary increment of between Ksh.1,679 and Ksh.3,069.

The ranks of Police Commissioners and Assistant Inspector General of Police will earn salary increments of between Ksh.5,269 and Ksh.11,249.

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) implemented phase 1 remuneration and benefits for officers for the third remuneration review cycle 2021/2022 – 2024/2025.

NPSC Chairman Eliud Kinuthia said: “Out of the Ksh.21.7 billion that was allocated to all public servants in the country, police got share of Ksh.3.6 billion, to be implemented in two phases; phase one for the financial year 2023/2024, and this we were able to afford Ksh.2.284 billion for this financial year.”
