Trade Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria, is to accompany President William Ruto to the US to meet the country’s head of state, Joe Biden.

Kuria, on Friday, November 4, stated that the meeting was scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the US Africa summit in December 2022.

Kuria and the US officials discussed ways to foster trade and partnerships.

“We discussed various ways through which we will develop trade and investment relations between Kenya and the United States under our Strategic Trade and Investment Programme (STIP),” stated Kuria.
On her part, U Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, congratulated Kuria on his appointment to head the trade docket.

“It was an honour to head the presidential delegation to President Ruto’s inauguration on September 13, 2022, and to meet with him to learn his vision for Kenya,” read part of the statement.

Tai added that she outlined opportunities that expand bilateral trade with broadly shared benefits, including women, youth, and others in the trade, supporting micro, small and medium enterprises, and advancing African continental trade integration.

Kuria’s recently promised to empower local industries to reduce over-dependence on imports.

The trade CS is categorically interested in making locally produced apparel affordable to Kenyans.
